Dry Needling / IMS · Surrey, BC

A focused technique within your physiotherapy plan

Dry needling uses fine, sterile needles to stimulate selected tissues, often targeting muscular trigger points or areas of increased sensitivity. It is used as one possible component of a broader physiotherapy assessment and treatment plan.

About the service

Dry Needling / IMS

Your physiotherapist first reviews your history and performs an assessment. If dry needling is appropriate, the technique and expected sensations are explained before treatment.

Some people experience a brief twitch or local soreness. Minor bruising or temporary tenderness can occur. Your physiotherapist will discuss relevant precautions and alternatives before proceeding.

When it may help

Care built around your goals.

Every treatment is selected in context. Your physiotherapist will discuss whether a particular approach is appropriate for you.

01

Muscle tension

May be considered when localized muscular tightness or sensitivity is contributing to movement limitations or discomfort.

02

Movement restrictions

Your physiotherapist may combine needling with mobility work, manual therapy and exercise when appropriate.

03

Individual assessment

Needling is not automatically appropriate for every patient. Your history, examination and goals guide the treatment decision.
